How to Pitch a Basha, Hootchie or TarpSubmitted by An Outdoor Idiots Team Member. IntroductionIn this article, we made a case for the validity of tarps in the UK climate, and indeed anywhere else in the world. Since then, that article has received critical acclaim on an international scale and we are, of course, very proud of it. However, we have also been receiving requests about how exactly to pitch a tarp. There is no single answer to that question, but we'll happily show you one way which works very well, then give you some ideas for more ... interesting ... ways that a tarp might be pitched. After that, you'll have to make your own way in the dark and frightening world of tarps. But first, an admission. In that earlier article, we mentioned that it should be possible to pitch a tarp in about 2 minutes. Well, this figure was estimated from memory, and we fear we may have misled you. We went out to pitch a tarp, and we timed it. We even made some video footage for your delectation:
Choose a format: Windows Media Player or Real Player Apple Macintosh users: To register your complaint, see our contact page. Filled with shame, we have to admit that it took 3 minutes, 1 second and 45 hundredths of a second. We calculate, therefore, that we have misled you by 51.2%. This is unacceptable, and we are working hard to decide on our method of punishment. Leave that with us. In the meantime, though, we can show you exactly how the tarp in the footage above was prepared and pitched. The excitement begins on the next virtual page.
