Output

Arguably (and Flossy would certainly argue at this point) the most important thing about a torch is the light that it produces. Torch aficionados will no doubt demand some sort of figures expressed as lumens or candlepower or something. Well, we don't have the technology to arrive at such figures, however we did perform a test and we did manage to make a beamshot.

We positioned the torch about 4 inches from a sheet of white paper, shielded our eyes, and powered it up. We captured the result with a camera:

The output.

It might be hard to tell from that picture, but take our word for it, when we powered the torch up, there was definitely a noticeable change to the paper. It looked much less orange beforehand. We therefore conclude that this torch does indeed produce light.

The Innards Explored

We were as blown away by the above beamshot as you no doubt are, and we just had to know what made this monster tick. So we opened it up and rummaged around. What we found can be summed up in three words: Technology, technology and technology. Here are those words in pictures:

Technology.

Conclusion

Our conclusion is simply this...

You may well be asking yourself:

"At £2.49, can I afford this torch?"

That's because you are thinking wrong. Instead, ask yourself:

"Can I afford NOT to have this torch?"

That's better.
