Lil' Bratz Torch / Flashlight ReviewSubmitted by An Outdoor Idiots Team Member. Appendix: HullabalooWe have to admit we had never heard of "Lil' Bratz" before. So of course, we did a search on the Internet to work out exactly where this provider of top-notch outdoor equipment had come from.We were shocked and saddened to learn that the brand has little to do with the outdoor market, and that the torch was just a one-off collision of worlds. The search also revealed that the brand has been causing quite a hullabaloo, owing to what some people call the "sexualisation of children". Could that be true? Hang on a minute, with this context in mind, let's look at the first picture in our article again: ![]() Oh. Ah. That picture might not be speaking a thousand words, but it is possibly speaking enough of them. The world is indeed all wrong. There are all sorts of things marketed to our children which probably shouldn't be. Young girls are bombarded with imagery which could lead to them dressing inappropriately, well before the age at which it becomes their duty. Equally, young boys are bombarded with imagery which could lead them to thinking about guns, well before the age at which the government could conscript them into having to use one. The world is a mad, bad place. What good can come of it all? Well, this: A spokesman from the Bratz people was forced to defend the brand. This is what he said: The Bratz brand, which has remained number one in the UK market for 23 consecutive months, focuses core values on friendship, hair play and a 'passion for fashion'.Really. That's what he said. Just in case you missed it, here it is again. This time, we've added some bold type, because we just couldn't resist: The Bratz brand, which has remained number one in the UK market for 23 consecutive months, focuses core values on friendship, hair play and a 'passion for fashion'.So clearly, if we leave our children in the capable hands of product marketeers, the current spate of vacuous teenagers, ASBOs and underage pregnancies will become a thing of the past. The future will be bright. Moral fibre will be everywhere. We'll be tripping over the stuff. Relax. No action required. By the way, you can get the same torches with Scooby Doo or Spiderman stickers slapped on them, if you think that's any better. We just don't know any more. Just in case you have any illuminating insights into this drivel, we have created a special place for the dumping of your thoughts. If you can't be bothered to enter the forums, then shame on you! But you can still leave a comment below. Please try to avoid the profane ramblings of a madman. That's our job. Your CommentsOn 3 August 2007, Dances with Chickens said:Wow. The Outdoor Idiots.com Emergency Response Team says: We like to think we have acquired the only one in existence. However, you might try phoning Tesco in the UK. Parents no longer bother to teach their kids the 'need-to-knows', or else they think ignorant=safer.
