The Leatherman Blast: Can Opener

The can opener is located on the same tool as the bottle opener and the wire stripper. In fact, the can opener opens cans using almost exactly the same parts that it uses to open bottles.

Here is the can opener:

The can opener. Amongst other things.

From this side you can see that the tip is actually tapered to form a blade which is quite capable of piercing and cutting a tin can. So, by hooking the tool under the rim of a can...

... it is very easy to pierce the lid of the can:

Then it's just a question of continually moving the tool around the can and repeating the process to cut it all the way around...

Let them eat spaghetti

There you have it. 215 grams of Asda spaghetti in tomato sauce, rendered accessible in about forty seconds. It's things like that which make life worth living.

The can opener is a very effective tool, but not quite as perfect as it is when being used as a bottle opener. The hook is a bit rounded, and it does slip off the underside of the rim of a can occasionally. So long as you are sure to factor that in when attempting to bring spaghetti and toast together in temporal unison, you may well survive.
