The Leatherman Blast: Knife

Finally (we hear you say) we have reached the last tool: the knife.

Here is the knife:

The Leatherman Blast's knife

Its cutting edge is almost 7cm (2.75") long, and extends all the way to the tip. The blade is thin (about 1.5mm) and therefore it is only really suitable for slicing and piercing - certainly not gouging things with the tip or prying things.

The edge is a flat grind, and it is impressively sharp. It needed no sharpening at all before use. It can very cleanly push-cut through a match:

It was simply no match

It can very cleanly push-cut through paracord:

Warning: Don't cut paracord until you've landed

It can be used for very fine work. Here we have pointed a matchstick. We had no reason to put a point on a matchstick, it was just something to do. If we felt the need to justify why we did it, we would probably say it was to make a tooth pick or something. The reality, though, is that we threw it in the bin as soon as we had taken the photo:

A tooth pick?

But not before first making it into a miniature fuzz-stick:

Fuzzy

Summary: The knife is impressively sharp, and it cuts through things cleanly.
